What is Winter Swimming?

Safety Information
Winter Swimming Safety
Due to the cold temperatures during winter swimming, when the water temperature drops below 12 degrees, all swimmers are required to wear a wetsuit. You’re welcome to hire one from us or bring your own! For those interested in wild swimming without a wetsuit, exceptions can be made on a case-by-case basis for members only. Additionally, all winter swimmers must use a tow float while cold water swimming outdoors in the lake for safety.
Our lifeguards are fully trained to assist participants during our winter swimming sessions. They will assess each swimmer’s ability and strength in the water, guiding them to safely complete either a full cold swim or a quick dip with our without a wetsuit.
*Please be aware that we may adjust the time or length of the routes if necessary. Our team has a duty of care, and if we believe the temperature is affecting our swimmers—regardless of their ability—we’ll take action to ensure everyone’s safety.

Get moving
A light warm-up, like stretching or gentle exercises, can prepare your body, but avoid overdoing it.
