AFF Course Preparation
At Hangloose Adventure, our goal is to make learning a new skill exciting and fun, while also setting you up for the next level. We’ll help you build essential freefall skills and provide ground training to prepare you for your British Skydiving licence. Once you’re ready to take the leap, you can enrol in an Accelerated Freefall (AFF) course to continue your training in the skies.
What is AFF?
Accelerated Freefall (AFF) is an intensive program that quickly guides beginners toward becoming qualified skydivers.
British Skydiving’s AFF course includes eight aff levels, each with specific requirements. After a minimum of six hours of ground training, students are ready for their first accelerated freefall exit from around 13,000 feet, experiencing about 45 seconds of freefall. With two instructors providing hands-on guidance during the descent, this “in-air” coaching accelerates personal progress. This is why we recommend starting in our wind tunnel, as mastering the basics here greatly improves your ability to adapt to skydiving quickly and confidently.
Complete this course with the foundational skills and confidence to embrace solo skydiving and progress toward a real skydive experience.
AFF Level
From the first jump students exit with two instructors, transitioning to one instructor from level four onward – learning essential skills like freefall position and canopy control. Upon completing level seven, they progress to ten solo consolidation jumps to practise their skills. Through consolidation jumps, students build confidence and progress toward their skydiving licence. After these jumps, students complete their aff level eight jump using their own parachute as part of the accelerated freefall AFF program.
*The requirements for completing each level may be found in the British Skydiving Operations Manual, Section Two , Paragraph 5.
Learn to skydive with Hangloose
We highly recommend trying our wind tunnel as a taste of the skydiving experience. You’ll start with guidance from a qualified instructor who will show you proper body position, teach new skills, and provide you the chance to practise controlling airflow. You can even use the tunnel to revisit and refine techniques from previous levels completed, building essential skills with extra air time. While normally one skydive lasts around 45 seconds, our tunnel sessions offer double the time at a fraction of the cost.
Free fall safety
No sport is completely risk-free, and while skydiving does involve jumping from a plane, extensive safety measures are in place to ensure you can fully enjoy the experience without worry! Parachute systems are carefully designed for safe solo skydives, with backup mechanisms to give you peace of mind. If you feel nervous, we recommend thorough ground training at Hangloose Adventure so you can master essential skills and feel prepared for a smooth, confident flight. Our goal is to get you ready to conquer your full aff course and become a qualified skydiver!
Our AFF Course Recommendations
We recommend Winter Sun Skydiving or UK Parachuting for your AFF course—both offer excellent instructors, high-quality gear, and a focus on safety.
If you are not from the UK or find yourself too far from our site to practise in a wind tunnel we recommend using indoor skydiving source to help find the closest wind tunnel to you!
