Experience the invigorating thrill of cold water swimming at Hangloose Bluewater. Near London, we have the perfect setting for wild swimming enthusiasts and new cold water swimmers to take the plunge into refreshing water. Most importantly for open water swimmers – we are open all year round!
Our cold water swimming offers a refreshing escape from the hustle, bustle and noise of London life, making it an easily accessible location within the beauty of a Quarry. We pride our lakes on having pristine water quality and in the summer take full advantage of the perfect water temperature before the colder months!
Whether you’re a seasoned swimmer or a cold water immersion novice, Hangloose Bluewater is the perfect place to embrace the world of cold water wild swimming. We have a range of swimming distances to do in your 1 hour cold water slot – 150m and 250m, however this includes a 50m access route to and from the course! Our course has easy access into and out of the water, no sand or mud but purposely built stairs allowing you to swim easily and keep those feet clean!

Restrictions
Who can take part?
Almost anyone can wild swim! (Subject to the age and weight restrictions).
Minimum age: 18yrs – Under 18’s wishing to cold water swim must hold an ASA L1 Open Water Award and accompanied by an adult
Please Note: To take part in outdoor swimming you must be able to swim 50m unaided confidently and be wearing a tow float and wetsuit (if the water is under 12 degrees)

Best Facilities
Our cold water swimming facilities are equipped with changing rooms and also a trained lifeguard will always be on site. We always appreciate a brightly coloured swim cap to spot you however this is not mandatory. All swimmers must wear a tow float and when the warmth wears off and the weather gets colder in winter we ask all outdoor swimmers to wear a wetsuit (bring your own or hire) when the water temperature is under 10 degrees – Please email us for exceptions to this rule.

Annual Pass: Purchasing a cold water swim annual pass offers a multitude of benefits that go beyond cost savings. With an annual pass, you gain unlimited access to wild swimming in Kent all 12 months of the year. This means you can dip as often as you like without the need to purchase individual tickets each time, making it incredibly convenient.
Monthly membership: Our monthly membership is for those who might not want to swim in the very cold water in winter and just enjoy the water temperatures in summer or are new to open water swimming. For this cold water monthly membership all you need to do is pay monthly – even better it’s only £2.50 more than a single standard session!

Doggy Swimming
Open water swimming for dogs!
Rather than taking your pooch to the beach or sea swimming where it may not be safe, enjoy the comforts of our open water swimming with your best friend in a controlled environment. There will be dog specific slots for those who want to swim together. All dogs must have a buoyancy aid on and be secured to their owner. For those who have a membership, taking your dog for a dip is another perk – no extra cost. It’s a great way to spend time together, cool off in the heat of summer and way more convenient than finding a pool!
